Washington Tavern

WHERE EVERY DISH TELLS THE STORY

About Us

The building that Washington Tavern inhabits has been an Albany watering hold since before 1900. However, it’s claim to fame started after 1971 when Michael Byron founded and opened Washington Tavern. The Byron family operated it until 2018, when they sold the building and business. The tavern saw a decline in the following years, and officially closed for business following the COVID-19 Pandemic. The building was then purchased by J&J Investments, a renowned residential real estate investment firm.

In 2023, Levack Restaurant Group partnered with J&J to own and operate in the space, and it was agreed that the Washington Tavern name would be kept and given new life. Renovations lasted over a year, with no detail spared to do justice to the Washington Tavern name and legacy. Reopened in November of 2024, WT's lives on through a revitalized space and a thriving team.
